Fox's vocabulary is expanding everyday, but even though he can't vocalize everything yet through speech, that doesn't mean that he can't understand you. I learned that this morning after I got Fox up from his crib. As I entered his room, I heard him greet me with the usual, "Dah-unh." He was chipper and ready to get up. I grabbed him, hugged him, kissed him, and changed his diaper.
Usually, I don't leave the house until about 8:20-8:30, but this morning I had to leave by 7:20 for a video shoot. I was glad that I got to see both Fox and Phoenix before I left, but I didn't have my usual time with either of them today. As I carried Fox into mine and Wendy's room, I told both him and Phoenix that I would have to leave early for work, but that I would be back that evening. Immediately Fox's demeanor changed. He suddenly went from happy to sad. He clung to me and wrapped his arms tightly around my neck. He laid his head on my shoulder and wouldn't let me put him down. I was surprised that he seemed to understand everything that I had said, because he definitely seemed depressed that I had to leave the house. I felt bad for leaving, but at the same time I felt good that Fox loves me enough that he doesn't want to see me go.
Here's a picture Wendy took of me and Fox after I told him that I would have to leave early.
