Speak Softly and Carry a Big Pointy Index Finger

Although Fox's vocabulary is somewhat limited right now, he has still become quite communicative. He has learned the all-important sign for telling authority figures what it is that he wants - pointing. He has also grown accustomed to his routines. When he wakes in the morning, he has to have his milk. He takes his sippy cup gleefully, then walks around the house with it until it's gone. When he is finished, he usually hands the sippy cup to either Wendy or myself. When he wakes from his nap, Wendy brings him downstairs so he can watch one of his shows (usually something from the Baby Einstein collection). And if we are running behind schedule on his pre-determined routines, he will let us know by pointing at the object of his desire and grunting (actually it's more of a half grunt, half whine). This evening Wendy prepared Fox a dinner of potatoes and green beans. He also ate half of a banana. I was trying to give him the last few bites of his potatoes when he became fussy. I quickly surmised that he wanted down from his booster seat. I unbuckled him, then placed him on the floor. Immediately, he went into the living room with business-like precision, stopped in front of the TV and pointed. It was time for his post-meal entertainment. So, I popped in a Baby Einstein DVD and as soon as the picture materialized, he plopped right down into his personalized easy chair and began watching. That's Fox - a man of few words, but he knows what he wants.
