Wendy and I went up to Barnes & Noble today to do a little shopping and of course, we had the Little Guy in tow. We love taking him to the bookstore, because they have a great children's section. It's filled with books, stuffed toys, and a Thomas the Train set that he absolutely loves. He has gotten into the habit now of wanting to carry as much as he can at one time. And today was no different. He went over to the train set and tried to pick up every section of the train and carry it off to another part of the store.
At the other end of the children's section is a small stage where the store hosts various activities, including storytime. On the stage are two baskets full of little stuffed animals. Our Little Guy spent his time going back and forth between those baskets and the train set. Wendy found a large print copy of Good Night Moon on the shelf and brought it over to Phoenix. He has the book at home and loves it. However, Phoenix wasn't paying attention to what Wendy had in her hand, despite her saying, "Phoenix" over and over. However, as soon as she started reading from the book, he stopped running, turned to her and sat on the floor so she could read it to him. He recognized the opening line of the story and he sat very still right in the middle of the children's section while Wendy read the book to him.
