Circle Up the Wagons

Wendy had to work this afternoon at Kid's Market so it was my time to shine. I had the Little Guy for about 5 hours this afternoon and we had a great time. After Wendy left, I finished giving the Little guy his lunch, then dressed him and got him ready for the day. I decided it would be a good time to put some mileage on his little red wagon.

My aunt gave him this wagon for Christmas, but it's just been too cold really to get him out for any extended period of time. But today was the day. It was beautiful -- sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 70s. I loaded him up, strapped him in, and we took off from our house and went up the street. I made sure to pack a sippy cup full of ice water for our journey, since it was a little warmer today. I had it next to him in one of his wagon's fancy cup holders, as you can see from the following picture:

We made it up the street and cut through to The Preserve subdivision where we proceeded toward the Preserve Park, complete with open grassy field and playground. I stopped to snap a few pictures of the Little Guy while in transit, but everytime I did he tried to climb out of the wagon:

When we got to the playground I let him run loose. He walked all over that playground, picking up rocks, pine cones, pine straw, and throwing things around. he enjoyed swinging and watching some of the older kids play. When he got tired of walking and just wanted a change of pace, he would sit down in the leaves and kick his legs:

Over the course of our time at the playground together, he collected three pinecones and loaded them up into his wagon for the long journey back to the ranch... I mean, our house. On the way home he took some sips of his water and enjoyed the view of the neighborhood. He was sure to point out a few dogs walking down the street, flags on houses, and the occasional stop sign. for the most part he was very serious and studied his surroundings intently. The inaugural outdoor wagon ride was a great success and the 'ole Radio Flyer handled very well.
